A softer take on Cape Town’s must-sees, with fewer crowds and more charm
This itinerary takes us in search of the classic Cape Town “must sees”, but with a slightly different approach. A penguin we will find, but before joining the throngs on the boardwalks at Boulder’s Beach, let’s see if we can’t find the little bird on the smaller, less frequented beach. Whilst there, with the tuxedoed penguin frolicking in the waves in front of us, we can enjoy a coffee and a snack. From here we’ll head to the Cape Peninsula and Cape Point and enjoy this national park from a slightly different perspective. Rather than follow the typical routes, we’ll find quieter pockets of this reserve to gain a unique perspective on “where the two oceans meet”. A picnic lunch here to refuel, perhaps a traditional braai or some pre-prepared treats with a local wine and a stunning view. Eyes peeled for baboons, eland, ostrich, and gorgeous birdlife.
From Cape Point we will wind along the coastline, stopping to explore small coastal hamlets as the fancy takes us, all whilst heading towards one of the most scenic drives in the world. We begin to leave wilderness behind and return to the city along Chapman’s Peak Drive, passing beautiful beaches along the way. There are plenty of options where one can pause as we wind our way back home, with some incredible backdrops and views. Once back in the hustle and bustle, we might join the locals as they stroll along the Sea Point promenade, rent a bicycle or hop on an electric scooter before returning to your hotel full of memories of a spectacular city.
